There Are Protests and Disputes in the Second Round of the Jakarta Governorship Election

During the election day of the second round of the Jakarta Governorship Election of 2017, the People’s Voters Education Network (JPPR) reported that there are protests and disputes from the candidate’s official witnesses and voters at 9 Polling Stations out of total 1,054 Polling Stations or around 1 percent.

One of the dispute is caused by the difference in the voter’s sequence number on the Voters List. The official witnesses have different List with the one obtained by the voters. For example, on the List obtained by the Polling Center Committee (KPPS), a voter named Alib Arselan is on the sequence number of 203, however, the same voter is on the number of 210 on another List.

Another dispute is caused by the fact that there are voters who did not receive the invitation to vote or the Form C6, or simply unregistered on the Voters List. This happened at 117 Polling Centers or around 11 percent of polling stations.

“There are still voters who did not receive Form C6 and not registered on the Voters List. The Election Commission (KPU) should take note of this,” says the National Coordinator of JPPR, Masykurudin Hafidz (02/20).

However, Masykurudin then says that the Polling Center Committee announced to voters who did not receive Form C6 and not registered on the Voters List to come back to the Polling Station at noon to vote as long as they have their electronic Resident Identification Card (e-KTP). According to Masykurudin, this shows how the members of the Polling Station Committee have good understanding on the voting procedure.
