KPU Officially Names Prabowo-Gibran as Winners of the 2024 Presidential Election

The General Election Commission (KPU) has officially declared Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the winners of the 2024 presidential election. In accordance with Article 4 of KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 6 of 2024, the determination of the presidential and vice presidential pair is carried out no later than 3 days after the reading of the election dispute decision at the Constitutional Court (MK).

“The KPU has determined presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number two, Mr. H Prabowo Subianto and Mr. Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as the elected presidential and vice presidential candidate pair for the 2024–2029 period in the 2024 general election,” said KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy’ari in the meeting plenary held at the KPU Office, Central Jakarta (24/4).

After the presidential election dispute lawsuit filed by Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, was rejected by the Constitutional Court, Prabowo-Gibran was declared the winner of the 2024 presidential election. The KPU declared Prabowo-Gibran victorious after obtaining 96,214,691 votes, or 58.59% of the total valid votes, nationally and fulfilling at least 20 percent of the votes in more than half of the provinces in Indonesia. This determination includes votes obtained in 38 provinces and 128 regions abroad.

Meanwhile, the presidential-vice presidential candidate pair number 1, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, received 40,971,906 votes, equivalent to 24.95% of all valid national votes. Pair number 3, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, bagged 27,040,878 votes, or 16.47% of the valid national votes. The results of the 2024 presidential election were outlined by the Indonesian KPU in Decree Number 504 of 2024 concerning the determination of elected presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs in the 2024 election.

In his first speech after being officially declared president-elect, Prabowo said that after the presidential election, the people demanded that all leadership elements work together and collaborate. According to him, this is for the common good to create prosperity for Indonesia.

“Whether we are united inside the government or outside the government, together we fight for our people,” said Prabowo, accompanied by his deputy, Gibran Rakabuming Raka. []
