Arief Budiman has been officially selected as the new Chairman of the Election Commission (KPU). Arief is selected in the first closed meeting of the new KPU on Wednesday (04/12). During the meeting, members of KPU also decided who will be commissioned to the Election Management Honour Council (DKPP), who will be the coordinator of programs and the coordinator of local areas.
Titi Anggraini, the Executive Director of the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem), hopes that Arief will be able to lead KPU to realize more fair and free elections in Indonesia.
“I hope Arief will be able to lead KPU as an election commission that prioritize the principle of free, fair, and transparent elections,” says Titi (04/12).
