DKPP Fires Two Election Organizers for Violating Code of Ethics

The Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP) imposed permanent suspension sanctions on two election organizers who were proven to have violated the Election Organizer Code of Ethics (KEPP). These sanctions were read out at a hearing to read the decisions on 14 cases in the DKPP Courtroom, Jakarta (14/5).

“Imposing permanent dismissal sanctions on Iqbal Suliansyah as a member of the Independent Election Commission (KIP) of Langsa City starting from the time this decision is read,” said Chairman of the Assembly Heddy Lugito when reading the decision on case number 17-PKE-DKPP/I/2024.

Apart from that, the DKPP also imposed permanent dismissal sanctions on members of the Puncak Jaya Regency Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) in cases of alleged KEPP violations, case number 23-PKE-DKPP/I/2024. Elion Wanda was proven to have been a member and administrator of the Puncak Jaya Regency Crescent Star Party (PBB) when he registered as a member of Bawaslu. He was proven not to have fulfilled the minimum requirement of five years to resign from a political party when registering as a member of Bawaslu.

“The defendant has not passed at least five years since he was no longer a member and administrator of the Bulan Bintang Party, Puncak Jaya Regency,” said Member of Assembly I Dewa Kade Wiarsa Raka Sandi.

DKPP also imposed sanctions for no longer meeting the requirements as election organizers for three former election organizers whose terms of office for the 2019–2024 period had expired. These sanctions were imposed on the Chair and Members of the Central Mamberamo Regency KPU for the 2019-2024 period, Natalis Walela and Simon Yigibalom in case number 24-PKE-DKPP/I/2024, as well as the Chair of the Central Aceh Regency KIP for the 2019-2024 period and Sertalia in case 40-PKE-DKPP/III/2024.

During the trial, DKPP read out the decisions for 14 cases involving 45 defendants. The sanctions imposed were 16 warnings, 3 strong warnings, 1 permanent dismissal, and 3 cases of not meeting the requirements as an election organizer. Meanwhile, 21 other defendants who were not proven to have violated the KEPP had their good names restored. []
